26 Years' Journey of Gujarat Infotech Ltd (Jamsab Group)

Our successful completion of 26 years of a corporate journey is naturally a good reason to be proud of. This is more so on the part of the founder Mr M A Patel, hailing from a farming community of a sleepy small village of North Gujarat. Mr Patel, a technocrat who was compelled to resign his lucrative overseas job in a multinational corporation due to war in that country and leave the war torn land all of a sudden, heading to Mother India. In his search for a gainful economic activity for a living, he, against the unsolicited advice of relatives and friends, ventured in to setting up a computer training centre, under the name JAMSAB, in 1990 on a small scale in Visnagar, a small town in Gujarat. 

However, luck would have it, the venture failed for want of sufficient students. He realized his mistake of selection of the location for upcoming computer technology and soon shifted to a rented house in Ahmedabad and also shifted the training centre to Ahmedabad.
 

Typical to a new start-up, the beginning was difficult even after shifting the training centre to Ahmedabad.  Computers were just an object of curiosity confined to a few scientific research laboratory and banks’ training centres. Computers were considered as a curse for employment as our country was teeming with millions of unemployed youth. The future of computer did not augur well at that time. However, Mr Patel persevered in his efforts as his perception about the future of computer was totally different – and the omnipresent use of computers has vindicated his foresight.   

To secure a toe hold in the venture, he added one more vertical of assembling and selling computers. Moving on, he added one more vertical of scanning and digitization under Govt contracts. This vertical changed the growth trajectory of the JAMSAB which was converted into a limited company and was registered in 1995. Since then the company has been progressing steadily and earning profit as a result of team work of its dedicated 700 employees. More importantly, the Company has carved out a niche in the fields in which it operates and earned confidence of all the stake holders.

A small training centre set up with a sole object of earning a living has grown into a full-fledged public limited company, a conglomerate encompassing following verticals:

Our logo reflects the founder’s basic tenets of doing business. It is deduced from Bhagwat Geeta. The Company’s all employees are guided, in their day to day work, by the principles enunciated by the logo. Our logo is not just our corporate identity but it is a motto for each employee to live by.

Way Ahead:

Mr Patel is in the process of handing over the baton to his son Mr Alpesh Patel, a young man with lots of insight in business and Information Technology. Alpesh Patel has been working as Managing Director since many years which has equipped him necessary experience to lead the Company with accelerated speed.
